POSITION SUMMARY

: The Charge Nurse is responsible for the provision of skilled nursing care of the patient at Los Altos Surgery Center in Anaheim. In addition to being responsible for the nursing care rendered in the surgery center, the Charge Nurse is accountable for the implementation and administration of policies assuring a safe environment for both patients and employees. The acquisition of and the maintenance of operative equipment, supplies, and instrumentation are the responsibility of the Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse will assist in maintaining employee records, surgical records, unusual occurrence data, and hazard control information. Expected to work on the floor from time to time.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

:

Current state RN licensure. Current ACLS and BLS certification is required. BSN; Diploma, or Associate Degree in nursing, with a minimum of 1 year perioperative experience preferred. Minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred ASC or OR experience is preferred

Physical Requirements

:

Willing to travel to mutual surgery centers*.
Hepatitis immunization (will be provided at no cost to the employee) or documented refusal to be vaccinated. Evidence of negative Mantoux or chest X-ray annually (will be provided at no cost to the employee). Able to maintain extensive standing, moderate sitting, retracting and assisting in the transfer of patients with appropriate number of personnel and/or devices. Physically able to perform CPR. Physically able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds, surgical instrumentation or equipment.

Responsibilities

:

The Charge Nurse is responsible for the management, supervision, and support of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative RNs, Surgical Technicians and ancillary personnel employed by Payroll Express, LLC. Understands and utilizes knowledge of Payroll Express, LLC's philosophy and objectives in directing activities of the staff. May participate in the evaluation of departmental programs and activities of staff. Collaborates with administrative staff on special projects and other assignments. Is responsible for assisting the Clinical Director in the development of the roles and responsibilities of surgery center staff. Acts as resource to the staff nurses for problem identification and problem resolution in regard to staff job functions in the surgery center. Ensures that existing policies and procedures are understood and implemented by surgery center staff. Holds staff in the surgery center accountable for assigned responsibilities through annual performance evaluations and day-to-day operation of the department. Listens to and reports requests, complaints, and suggestions for improvement of service from staff of the surgery center/Payroll Express, LLC. May hold regular staff meetings, records meeting minutes, and acts as a facilitator at meetings on behalf of the Clinical Director. The Charge Nurse is clinically competent in surgical specialties offered by the surgery center. Collaborates with nurses to assess the number of staff required for the surgery center; makes recommendations to the Clinical Director. Provides direct nursing care to patients in all phases of the surgical intervention (retains clinical competencies in all areas). Assists in evaluation of new policies, procedures, instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Plans appropriate learning experiences for staff. Assists in maintaining continuing education and in-service records for all personnel.

Pay: $128,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
