Amberglen Pet Care is a newly established clinic in the Hillsboro, Oregon area and we would love to add you to our team! We opened in March 2024 and are looking for motivated, passionate and dynamic individuals to be a part of something new and special. If not already certified, the first level of the Fear Free Certification course as well as Cat Friendly Professional certification is required upon hire and paid for by the hospital.

We practice with Gold Standard medicine, and follow AAHA and AVMA standards. Our focus will mainly be general practice with wellness, internal medicine cases, dermatology, urgent care and routine surgeries. We have a passion for pocket pets and enjoy working with them as well as cats and dogs. An ideal canidate will have experience with pocket pets, but if not we are happy to teach you!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Excellent client communication skills involving wellness, sick and emergent patients. Ability to triage urgent cases. Advanced knowledge of drug dose calculations. Overseeing hospitalized patients, delegating treatments as needed and providing nursing care. Surgical expertise involving monitoring vitals, evaluating signs of anesthetic complications and recovering and monitoring pets after anesthesia. Dental prophylaxis, dental surgical knowledge and ability to perform full mouth dental radiographs. Mentoring team members for career advancement and personal development. Overseeing technician appointments for routine services like vaccines and nail trims, as well as chronic disease treatments like Cytopoint injections and subcutaneous fluid administration. Maintaining hospital equipment. Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records. Sharing your knowledge and passion with pet parents. Collaborating with our team to weave Cat Friendly and Fear Free principles into every corner of our clinic, ensuring that every pet feels like a cherished family member.
REQUIREMENTS: Certified Veterinary Technicians must have excellent mathematical skills to ensure accuracy of medication and fluid doses. They must be able to successfully restrain animals according to Fear Free principles, including pocket pets. An ideal candidate will be team motivated and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. They must have a passion for working with animals.

PERSONAL AND PHYSICAL:

Must be open to work evenings. Must enjoy working with animals. Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds unassisted. Must be able to be on feet a minimum of ten hours per day. Must be able to handle dogs and cats on leashes. Experience with Fear Free handling preferred. Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions. Presents themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
