About the Position - Certified Peer Coach





New Freedom's

Peer Coach

functions as a role model to members, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of effective coping skills. The Peer Coach serves as an advocate, providing supportive information and peer support for members in outpatient and inpatient settings. Using their recovery or work-related experience, the Peer Coach performs a wide range of tasks to assist peers of all ages with respect to regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. Recovery resources such as booklets, videos, and other materials will be utilized by the Peer Coach in the provision of services.


Your Impact Will Include:




Monitor members' behavior, mood, and safety; document observations and report concerns to clinical staff. Support members with daily living activities, recovery goals, and re-entry processes. Provide one-on-one guidance to help members identify strengths, set goals, and develop personalized recovery plans. Facilitate or support group sessions, self-help activities, and peer-support opportunities that build coping skills and reduce negative self-talk. Assist members in building social skills, accessing community resources, and engaging in vocational planning--including job search support and interview preparation. Coordinate with Re-Entry Specialists and the treatment team to ensure consistent, member-centered care. Transport members safely, assist with supervised outings, and follow required protocols such as urinalysis/drug testing. Maintain compliance with safety standards, KPIs, documentation requirements, and ongoing clinical supervision/continuing education. Performing additional duties as assigned to support our mission.

Where You'll Work




Primarily onsite in an outpatient clinical office environment. May involve occasional offsite meetings, trainings, or community-based activities. Using standard office equipment, plus plenty of face-to-face interaction. Some days will require long periods of sitting, standing, or walking.

RequiredEffectively collaborates and works within a team, while also effectively demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work well individually required Effectively demonstrates versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm required Meets the requirements of a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), such as: Master/Bachelor degree in behavioral health field; or Bachelor degree (not bx health) and one (1) year of full-time bx health work exp; OR Associate degree and two (2) years full-time bx health work exp; OR Diploma/GED and combo of education in field related to bx health and full-time bx health work exp totaling at least two (2) years; OR Diploma/GED and four (4) years full-time bx health work exp
Must be 21 years or older Excellent professional and ethical boundaries across all aspects of the peer support and member therapeutic relationship Excellent communication, organizational, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills required 2 year(s): Behavioral Health Technician designation (2+ years behavioral health work experience and/or higher education) 1 year(s): Peer Coach/PRSS experience
