Location:

Nashville, TN (Sisters of Mercy Convent)

Schedule:

Night Shift, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required

Compensation:

$17.00 - $21.50 per hour

Differential Pay:

Night Shift and Weekend Differential

About the Role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA / STNA) supports nursing staff in providing quality, compassionate care to the Sisters residing at the convent. This position plays an essential role in assisting residents with daily living activities, maintaining their comfort, dignity, and safety, and ensuring high standards of care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care

Respond promptly and courteously to call lights and resident needs Assist with personal care and toileting every two hours and as needed Take and record vital signs, weights, and other observations Report any changes in condition to the nurse immediately Support skin integrity through repositioning, hygiene, and preventative care Maintain accurate shift reports and communication with nursing staff

Personal Care & Resident Support

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and meals Encourage independence and engagement in daily activities Promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents Help with laundry, linens, and maintaining a clean, safe environment Protect personal belongings and report any missing items

Safety & Compliance

Follow all infection control and safety procedures, including PPE use Safely transfer and transport residents Report hazards or incidents promptly Remain calm and effective in emergency situations

Additional Duties

Participate in rotating schedules, including weekends and holidays Maintain compliance with policies and community guidelines Demonstrate professional, courteous communication with all residents, staff, and visitors

Qualifications

Required:

Valid CNA or STNA certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in geriatrics or with special populations Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

Prior experience in healthcare or religious settings Understanding of Catholic traditions and the mission of the Sisters of Mercy Leadership abilities and a compassionate, patient-focused approach

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 75 lbs frequently Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching Ability to safely operate equipment and assist with transfers
