Employment Type: Part time Shift: Evening Shift Description: The McAuleyis West Hartford\'s only Life Plan Community, promoting and fostering an independent lifestyle within a life care setting. Both Saint Mary Home and The McAuley offer a wide variety of cultural, educational, social and spiritual programs and activities to capture diverse interests and needs. For those residents who are new to West Hartford, they find The McAuley to be the perfect locale - situated in a livelycommunity with plenty to do, see, and experience, both on campus and off. The McAuley is looking for part-time and per diem CNA\'s on 2nd and 3rd shift. : Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living who are in a chronic and stable condition. Performs all duties under the direction of a licensed nurse and under the supervision of the Supervisor of Assisted Living. Job Qualifications: Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Connecticut. High School education or equivalent Home health care experience preferred Job Responsibilities: 1. Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the Mission of The McAuley and the core values of Mercy Community Health in daily work activities. 2. Provides/assists residents with personal hygiene such as bathing, dressing elimination and shower. 3. Performs safe and proper transfers using proper body mechanics. 4. Assists with ambulation by using assistive devices such as a walker or wheelchair. Takes vital signs and responsibly reports observations and changes in resident conditions. 5. Accurately weighs residents 6. Responds to emergencies as per The McAuley\'s procedures. 7. Works as a team member by encouraging resident independence according to the resident\'s care plan and the direction from the licensed nurse. 8. Accompanies and/or transports residents to the dining room, appointments or other activities. 9. Responsible for reminding the resident to take their medications according to the resident care plan and under the direction of a licensed nurse. 10. Contributes to meeting the fluctuating program needs as evidenced by flexibility in own work schedules and assignments. 11. Maintains privacy and confidentiality to ensure the dignity and respect of the residents, staff and others. 12. Promotes a professional image by adhering to the established dress code. 13. Demonstrates dependability by completing assignments within the requested time frames. 14. Maximizes job potential by willingly participating in educational and inservice programs. Attends at least two (2) General Staff meetings, six (6) departmental staff meetings and twelve (12) hours of inservice per year. 15. Follows all safety, security, infection control and hazardous materials policies and procedures; performs all tasks to assure resident and personal safety and to assure protection of co-workers and facility property. 16. A focus on quality improvement and customer satisfaction is evident in all aspects of work. Promotes and supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the department. Dedicated to providing services that anticipate and exceed resident and family needs 17. Maintains high standards of business and ethical conduct in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations including fraud, waste and abuse. Avoids activities that could result in a conflict of interest. 18. Promotes a productive atmosphere. Facilitates teamwork and treats fellow employees, residents and families with respect and consideration, is helpful, cooperative and courteous. Carries out the spirit and intent of equal employment opportunity. Environmental and Working Conditions: 1. Lift/carry light objects such as resident charts, linens and other resident care items. Ability to push/pull cart of 10-50 pounds without assistance. 2. Ability to position/assist/transfer residents weighing up to 250 pounds . 3. Push wheelchairs with residents or reposition residents weighing up to 250 pounds. 4. Stand or walk up to 90% of an eight-hour day. 5. Perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination, such as recording weights, reading a thermometer or taking a blood pressure 6. Ability to wear gloves or other protective equipment 7. Distinguish normal sounds with background noise. 8. Ability to reach overhead or bend down in order to reach items on shelving or retrieve materials from drawers. 9. Read small print in typed and written materials. 10. Clear speech, reading and hearing skills 11. Concentrate on details with some interruption 12. Ability to deal tactfully with personne4 residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
