We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission of improving patients' lives.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinical and Administrative Support:
Assist neurosurgeons during patient examinations and surgical procedures.
Prepare patients for exams and surgeries, including recording medical histories and taking vital signs.
Ensure patient records are accurate and up-to-date, and assist with patient scheduling and follow-up.
Rotate through the call center multiple times weekly, answering live calls and taking messages.
Document and triage calls appropriately, escalating as needed.
Retrieve and address patient voicemails throughout the day, ensuring all issues are resolved.
Initiate prior authorizations for patient medications and handle imaging denials by communicating with relevant parties and providing necessary documentation.
Pre-Charting and Chart Preparation:
Pre-chart in EPIC, ensuring all necessary imaging CDs, radiology reports, consultation reports, and other pertinent records are scanned and uploaded.
Verify and update patient information as needed, including primary care physician, referring providers, and patient details.
Exam Room Preparation:
Prepare exam rooms with needed supplies, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Room patients in a timely manner, taking vital signs and ensuring a smooth flow of patient care.
Qualifications:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical assisting role, preferably in a surgical or neurosurgical setting.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Basic life support (BLS) certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a neurosurgical practice.
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.
