We specialize in structured, small-pack walks, enrichment-based adventure daycare, and individualized obedience and behavior training programs -- including Board & Train, private in-home sessions, and group workshops.

Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced and certified

Dog Trainer

to join our Rhode Island training team. The ideal candidate is confident, professional, and passionate about helping clients achieve real-world results through clear structure and humane, effective training.

This position is commission-based and offers flexible scheduling. Trainers will work directly with clients throughout Rhode Island, conducting in-home private sessions, behavior consultations, and Board & Train follow-ups.

Responsibilities

Conduct individualized obedience, behavior modification, and reactivity training sessions Create customized training plans tailored to each dog's temperament and the owner's goals Provide detailed session notes, progress updates, and ongoing client communication Maintain safe, ethical handling of all dogs under care Travel to client homes and local training sites throughout Rhode Island (mileage reimbursed or tax-deductible) (Optional) Assist with group classes or Board & Train clients as needed

Qualifications

Must hold a

recognized dog training certification or equivalent experience

(e.g., CPDT-KA, IAABC, IACP, ABCDT, NDTF, or comparable apprenticeship) Minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on dog training experience (obedience, reactivity, aggression, or puppy foundations) Confident working with a wide range of breeds, sizes, and behavioral issues Excellent communication and client education skills Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel throughout Rhode Island for appointments Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in client homes

Compensation

Commission-based pay:

$75-$90 per hour (based on program type and experience) Flexible scheduling and workload Opportunities for advancement within our growing regional team
