Job Description

Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in addiction counseling, equipped with the skills necessary to provide effective support and guidance to individuals and families. This role involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, develop treatment plans, and implement therapeutic interventions. The Counselor will play a crucial role in promoting well-being and facilitating positive change in the lives of those they serve.

Responsibilities



Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine individual needs and develop tailored treatment plans. Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing various therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Engage in crisis intervention and management, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients during critical situations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, including case management and referrals to other services as needed. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including patient records, progress notes, and treatment plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on topics such as addiction counseling, PTSD care, and behavioral management. Conduct diagnostic evaluations to identify mental health disorders and recommend appropriate interventions. Participate in ongoing research initiatives aimed at improving counseling practices and patient outcomes. Provide home and community care support as necessary to ensure holistic treatment approaches.

Skills



Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques, including crisis intervention, behavioral therapy, and applied behavior analysis. Experience in child & family counseling as well as addiction medicine is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical documentation practices. Ability to conduct effective intake assessments and manage patient care throughout the treatment process. Knowledge of social work principles and practices related to mental health counseling. Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare professionals effectively. Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records and managing case files efficiently. Commitment to ethical practice within the framework of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
