Job Description


Summary:

Responsible for maintaining current business as well as establishing new business in the central region with a focus on Texas, Colorado, and Missouri. Delivering the Company\xe2\x80\x99s annual goals in the territory utilizing our strategies and working with and through the chosen Wholesaler partner. Preferred physical location in Texas or Colorado, and near an airport to accommodate 40% travel.

Job Duties:

Planning

  • Collaborate with your manager to build and implement annual market plan that will deliver the Company\'s annual depletion & distribution goals. The plan should include multiple KPIs including:
- Shipment goals
- Depletion goals
- POD (distribution) goals
  • Formulate new market development plans by channel and account and allocate the appropriate resources to the greatest strengths & opportunities while maintaining the current business in the market & additional opportunities at for customers.
  • Working in the market 3 business days per week with distributor or independently.
  • Use VIP and market intelligence to identify market opportunities. Share the insights with the Wholesaler Sales Team and develop an action plan to seize the opportunity.
  • Work directly with your manager to develop pricing and program strategies that deliver the company plan goals.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop appropriate regional programs and seasonal activations.
  • Develop win-win-win solutions for Retailers, company and our Wholesaler partners.
  • Develop personal relationships with distributors, independent buyers and chains.
  • Bi-monthly chain outreach, which could include regional and/or national off-premise chains.
Wholesaler Management
  • Monthly touchpoints with every distributor to stay connected and relevant to their team. This includes business manager, on and off-premise, and chain teams.
Monitor and evaluate Wholesaler\'s performance against market goals using the VIP reporting tool.
  • Hold quarterly business conversations with the Wholesaler Management Teams to review performance and course correct direction.
  • Manage compliance of Strategic account programs.
  • Hold quarterly General Sales Meetings with either the General Sales team or specialty fine wine teams per state.
  • Build effective business relationships with On-Premise Regional Chains Distributor Manager
Brand Advocacy
  • Continue education with Wholesaler sales personnel on the Portfolio and the brand standards we expect.
  • Where relevant undertake tastings and presentations to Wholesaler\'s sales teams, wine stewards, sommeliers, and key retail accounts.
  • Host wine dinners in key accounts, and make arrangements for Family dinners with a focus on building customer connections.
Market Management
  • Monitor competitor activities in the market.
  • Communicate information on competitive strategy & tactics to direct supervisor and key Wholesaler personnel.
  • Maintain awareness of your main competitor brand managers in major markets
Business Management
  • Show fiscal responsibility at all times. Stay within pre-agreed budget limits.
  • Put controls in place to manage local market dollars; be totally transparent with budgeted spend.
  • Stay within the pre-determined sample budget.
  • Follow Company policy on travel and entertainment spend.
Activation
  • Work with Wholesaler salespeople and management to execute programs efficiently & effectively.
  • Participate in market focus activity in markets outside the primary area as needed.
  • Plan and execute Monthly Events- Wine Dinners, Tastings, Country Club Events in alignment with company strategy
Background Requirements:
  • Passion for wine and the ability to continuously learn new wines and brands and represent them effectively to customers required.
  • BA degree in Business or related area, or equivalent years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in wine industry.
  • Technology savvy in understanding different digital platforms (ie: Social, VIP, iDig, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to speak before large audiences both internally and externally, required.
  • Ability to multi-task and to exercise independent judgment without supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills required.

Experience:
  • Minimum of five years previous professional industry sales experience required.
  • Understanding and knowledge of off-premise and/or chain accounts
  • On Premise polish
  • Managing wholesales from the supplier side in strategic/business-savvy way
  • Wine / alcohol beverage industry experience needed
Work Environment:
  • Occasional delivery of samples weighing approx. 45lbs.
  • 40% travel To Outside Home Market- Air Travel
  • Home based office \xe2\x80\x93 will require ergonomically compliant set up.
  • 70% of time in field \xe2\x80\x93 will require walking, standing, bending and lifting.
  • 30%+ of time divided between meetings, and desk work \xe2\x80\x93 could require long periods of sitting.
