The Cemetery Manager oversees the daily operations and maintenance of the cemetery grounds, ensuring a respectful and well-maintained environment. This role involves managing staff, coordinating burial services, and maintaining the landscape to uphold the cemetery's standards of dignity and beauty. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, horticultural knowledge, and experience with landscape maintenance to ensure the grounds are pristine and welcoming for visitors.
Duties
Supervise and coordinate groundskeeping staff responsible for landscaping, lawn care, and general maintenance.
Oversee irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering schedules and system repairs.
Perform routine landscape maintenance including trimming, planting, fertilizing, and gardening tasks.
Operate hand tools and power tools safely for various maintenance activities.
Maintain cemetery records related to burials, plots, and memorials.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and cemetery policies.
Schedule and oversee routine maintenance of equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, and other landscaping tools.
Assist with special projects related to land expansion or beautification initiatives.
Provide excellent customer service to visitors and families regarding burial arrangements or inquiries about the grounds.
Skills
Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture.
Knowledge of irrigation systems and their repair or troubleshooting.
Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of groundskeeping or maintenance personnel.
Familiarity with lawn care practices including mowing, fertilizing, aeration, and pest control.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Attention to detail in maintaining the aesthetic quality of the cemetery grounds.
Good communication skills for interacting with visitors, staff, and vendors.
