Summary:



AgReserves, Inc. is seeking a

Cattle Unit Manager II

to oversee the daily operations of an assigned stewardship at Mashed-O Ranch.A The Cattle Unit Manager ensures high standards in animal welfare, pasture management, and team leadership, while aligning with the strategic goals set by the General Manager. This is a key role in implementing the best practices, maintaining infrastructure and fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities:



Oversee daily cattle care, feeding, health monitoring, and handling practices. Manage pasture resources and implement grazing plans and pasture rotation schedules to support sustainable grazing and herd health. Maintain optimal cow condition, targeting a Body Condition Score (BCS) of 5 or better on at least 75% of the herd, with minimal BCS 3 cows. Maintain accurate records of herd performance, treatments, pasture usage and cattle inventory. Monitor and maintain ranch infrastructure, including fencing, water systems, and equipment. Manage budget tracking and cost control for the unit. Support the adoption of new technologies and best practices to improve operational efficiency and sustainability. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards and company policies. Respond to emergencies such as weather events, animal health issues, or equipment failures. Supervise, train, and support ranch staff, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment while ensuring adherence to safety, animal welfare, and applicable company policies.

Qualifications:



BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in animal science, ranch management, or a related field or equivalent experience. 3+ years of hands-on experience in cattle operations, with at least 1-year in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of livestock handling, pasture and range management, and ranch equipment. Proficiency in operating and maintaining machinery and heavy equipment. Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Familiarity with ranch management software, data entry, and maintaining accurate records and reports. Ability to maintain and improve ranch infrastructure. Commitment to safety and employee training. Valid driveraEUR(TM)s license and ability to work in remote outdoor environments. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which includes lifting/moving up to 30lbs, riding a horse for 6-8hours daily, and walking/standing for 9-12hrs per day. Able to work outside in year-round weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain. Must be able to accommodate the regular farm schedule of 45-50 hours per week, which may include days, nights, holidays, and weekends, per business needs.
