Position Summary
The Cattle Clerk maintains accurate cattle software programs and lot files, forecasts and reports on inventory activities, and manages commodity inventory, including tracking deaths, sales, and transfers. The Cattle Clerk also develops and improves inventory management processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain cattle accounting programs to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
Forecast and provide reports to the team on cattle inventory and related activities.
Maintain cattle lot files, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
Manage commodity inventory, including tracking and reporting deaths, sales, and transfers.
Develop and improve inventory management processes for increased accuracy and efficiency.
Answer phones and handle inquiries related to cattle operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain record keeping, providing statistics on general feedyard performance (feed, manure, milling, water usage, etc.)
Process end of month feed bills / Reports
Identify and report discrepancies between physical stock counts and computer records.
Maintain and update inventory records in accordance with company procedures.
Prepare settlements and audit cattle checks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Send monthly invoices with corresponding backup to customers
Send corresponding date to customers/vendors as needed
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
High School Diploma or equivalent is required; College degree in Accounting or business is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, preferably in the cattle industry in preferred.
Strong understanding of Inventory Management Software is required.
Proficiency in delegating tasks effectively to team members based on their strengths and workload.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other productivity software is preferred.
Familiarity with the cattle industry is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn any applicable departmental or organizational rules and regulations.
