A Catering Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for events such as weddings, corporate meetings, and other gatherings. They work closely with the event planner or catering manager to ensure that the menu meets the needs and preferences of the clients. Catering Chefs must have excellent culinary skills, be able to work efficiently in a busy environment, and have a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Design menus that meet the expectations and preferences of clients
Prepare and cook meals at events, ensuring that they are served at the appropriate temperature and in a timely manner
Work with the catering team to ensure that all food is prepared and presented to the highest quality standards
Manage inventory and ensure that all ingredients are fresh and available for use
Coordinate with event planners and managers to ensure that all catering needs are met
Train and supervise catering staff, ensuring that they follow food safety guidelines and procedures
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
Oversee food preparation, presentation, and quality
Manage kitchen staff, assigning duties and providing training as needed
Maintain inventory, order supplies, and manage food cost
Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and in good working order
Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
Requirements:
Proven experience as a catering chef or sous chef
Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food safety guidelines
Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes accurately
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required
Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time
5 year clean driving record
Qualifications
Culinary school graduate with a degree in Culinary Arts or related field
5+ years of experience in a high-volume catering or food service environment
Proven ability to design and execute menus for 200+ guests
Ability to manage multiple kitchen staff members and provide training as needed
Familiarity with food safety and sanitation guidelines
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Creative problem solver with attention to detail
