Position Summary:
The Seafood Restaurant Cashier is responsible for providing fast, friendly, and accurate customer service at the front counter. This role handles customer orders, processes payments, answers questions about the menu (including seafood items and preparation methods), and ensures a clean, organized checkout area.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming environment.
Take customer orders in person and over the phone with accuracy and efficiency.
Answer menu questions, especially regarding seafood options, specials, and preparation styles.
Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally and promptly.
Cash Handling / POS Duties
Operate the point-of-sale system (POS) to process cash, card, and digital payments.
Validate receipts, manage cash drawer, and follow all cash-handling procedures.
Accurately total bills, apply discounts, and handle split payments when needed.
Order Coordination
Communicate clearly with kitchen staff regarding order details.
Ensure take-out orders, seafood platters, and packaged items are properly labeled and ready for pickup.
Double-check orders for accuracy before handing them to customers.
Cleanliness & Organization
Keep the cashier station, counters, and front-of-house area clean and stocked.
Refill napkins, condiments, menus, and sanitation supplies.
Follow all food safety and hygiene standards.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with hosts, servers, and kitchen staff to maintain smooth restaurant operations.
Inform management of low-stock items, customer concerns, or equipment issues.
Assist with side tasks such as packaging to-go orders or prepping small items when needed.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong customer service and communication abilities.
Basic math and cash-handling skills.
Familiarity with seafood items (or willingness to learn).
Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes loud environment.
Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
Prior restaurant or cashier experience is a plus but not always required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods.
Light lifting (up to 25 lbs), such as lifting seafood to-go orders or restocking supplies.
Frequent walking, bending, and reaching.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $10.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 35 per week
