Roles and Responsibilities




The responsibilities for both full-time and part-time cashiers include, but are not limited to, the following:


1. Excellent customer service- both on the sales floor, in assigned departments, on the telephone, and at the register


2. Knowledge of inventory and locations of items. Direct customers to appropriate product/ department


3. Operate cash register/ Point of Sale terminal


4. Greet customers and provide courteous customer assistance as necessary


5. Keep check-out area neat and clean


6. Handle incoming phone calls


7. Price or re-price merchandise as necessary


8. Maintain needed forms and stock for cashier area


9. Screen credit cards and checks before acceptance


10. Train new staff in cashier responsibilities


11. Understanding of the store's overall goals and how you fit into and affect them


12. Knowledge of register and other equipment as required


13. Watch for shoplifters and notify appropriate management


14. Attend store meetings


15. Participate in training as directed


16. Other tasks and responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Department Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, or owners


17. Set a positive example by following company procedures

Qualifications




Must be able to:

Lift/ move 50 lbs (low). Anything over this amount should be lifted/ moved with assistance from another staff member See, hear, touch, feel (high) Use hands/ type (high) Sit, walk, stand (high) Bend (moderate) Climb, twist (low) Use computer proficiently Work independently and as part of a team Communicate efficiently and effectively in writing and verbally Adapt to change
