Responsibilities

Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process sales, returns, and exchanges Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other payment methods with precision and integrity Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries Upsell products and promote store specials or new items to enhance sales opportunities Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, ensuring a tidy and inviting environment Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and assist with inventory management to ensure product availability Conduct product demos when applicable to showcase new or featured items to customers Assist in merchandising efforts by arranging products attractively and following planograms Support stocking activities by replenishing shelves and managing back-stock efficiently Demonstrate strong communication skills, including phone etiquette when handling inquiries or reservations Engage in basic retail math for cash handling accuracy and daily reconciliation procedures Foster positive customer relationships through friendly interactions and attentive service Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations during busy periods

Requirements

Prior experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred; supervisory experience is a plus for leadership opportunities Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures Strong communication skills with the ability to assist bilingual customers effectively Knowledge of grocery store operations or familiarity with retail environments is advantageous Ability to perform basic math accurately for transactions and inventory counts Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor Ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and lift moderate loads as needed Professional phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone or via other communication channels Willingness to learn about products through demos and merchandising techniques
