Position Overview

The Carpet Warehouse Laborer (Forklift Operator) plays a crucial role in our day-to-day operations. This position involves handling carpet rolls, padding, and related materials, operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting shipping and receiving activities. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, reliable, and eager to contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate forklifts to move, load, and unload carpet rolls, pallets, and other materials throughout the warehouse.

Receive, inspect, and store incoming inventory, verifying accuracy against shipment documents.

Assist in picking, wrapping, and preparing orders for delivery or customer pickup.

Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring aisles, shelves, and workspaces are free of hazards.

Follow safety protocols for forklift operation and general warehouse tasks, including proper lifting techniques and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Perform regular equipment inspections and report any issues or maintenance needs promptly.

Participate in periodic inventory counts and assist with stock rotation to ensure product freshness and availability.

Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and fulfill orders on time.

Handle carpet cutting tools and machinery, as needed, under supervision and according to training.

Support other warehouse duties as assigned, including sweeping, trash removal, and minor facility upkeep.

Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Prior experience working in a warehouse, with carpet or flooring products a plus.

Valid forklift operator certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Demonstrated ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and dollies.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Able to lift and maneuver heavy carpet rolls and materials (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.

Basic math and reading comprehension skills for inventory tracking and paperwork.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.

Punctual, dependable, and committed to maintaining safety standards.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

Warehouse setting with frequent movement of large carpet rolls and flooring materials.

Exposure to dust, noise, and variable temperatures throughout the year.

Standing, walking, lifting, and bending throughout the shift.
