Carpenter Foreman

  • Supervisor: Project Superintendent
  • Compensation: DOE Non-Exempt
  • Location: Kodiak Island, Alaska
Housing on Kodiak Island and Per-diem will be provided. Employees to provide their own vehicle transportation to and from the jobsite daily. We will pay for ferry transportation on and off the island for their POV s at the start and end of employment.

POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the work of subordinates performing carpentry tasks on doors, windows, floors, roofs, stairs, etc., in the shop and throughout municipal buildings and facilities .

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform construction tasks
  • Know and comply with the Company s safety rules/policies and OSHA regulations, including hazardous communication, fall protection plan, and confined space program
  • Model safe work practices, including wearing of personal protective devices
  • Oversee field crew to ensure that the correct methods of construction are employed and a strict adherence to safety rules/regulations is maintained
  • Together with Project Superintendent, responsible for recognizing and correcting any unsafe conditions that may exist or occur on the job site
  • Together with the Project Manager and/or Project Superintendent, look ahead, organize and coordinate work schedules of all subcontractors on project
  • At least weekly, review assignments with Project Superintendent
  • Attend required project related meetings/events, including weekly job site meetings with all relevant subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Promote rapport and team work among field crew
  • Ensure that all Osborne employees, subcontractor employees, and visitors to the jobsite comply with company safety policies and procedures
  • Must provide your own basic carpentry hand tools and work boots appropriate for the work activity
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Ability to obtain a base pass for working onsite
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5+ years construction experience, preferably on multi-family and/or mixed-use construction projects
  • Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, and drawings and specifications
  • CPR/First Aid Certification card or obtained within first 60 days of employment

Physical/Mental Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The employee must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

The employee must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
