The School of Medicine-Greenville is seeking to hire a CARES Center Coordinator to join our team.

ubstance (CARES) is a project led by the Patient Engagement Studio. The CARES Center Coordinator will lead the day-to-day operations of the CARES Center, focusing on enhancing Substance Use Disorder (SUD) research and interventions for LGBTQ+ populations. The Center Coordinator will support the project's goal of building capacity for patient-responsive SUD research and improving care for sexual and gender minorities (SGM). The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating research initiatives, engaging diverse stakeholders, and managing grant-related tasks in public health or community-based settings.


Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience


Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.



Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials




Preferred Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in health sciences, public health, or social science related field. Experience working with Sexual and Gender Minority populations. Prior experience managing federally funded grants or large-scale research projects.



Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Power BI. General knowledge of research processes. Knowledge of administrative and business management principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of administrative/business activities of the organization. Ability to formulate and implement administrative policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively. Good organization and time management. Proficient with computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to set up functions, enter data, or process information, as well as general word processing, graphics, and presentation software. Ability to plan, schedule, and oversee the activities of the studio. Ability to work independently, as well as ability to work cooperatively with and communicate effectively with studio participants, patients, coworkers, other departments, and other institutions or businesses.

:Oversee the daily operations and progress of the CARES project across its specific aims, ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables. Facilitate communication among project team members, collaborators, and stakeholders. Coordinate and organize research activities, including stakeholder meetings, focus groups, and training sessions for the Virtual Patient (ViP) Engagement Panel. Oversee the competitive funding process for pilot research projects under the initiative.

:Build and maintain relationships with a diverse network of stakeholders, including SGM patients, families, healthcare providers, and community organizations. Facilitate interactions between community members that result in people feeling a sense of belonging, encourage their participation, and positive attachment to the community. Work effectively as part of a team toward a shared purpose. Support the training and participation of the ViP Panel to ensure meaningful engagement in research activities. Coordinate and schedule consultations between the ViP Panel and researchers to inform grant applications, project findings, and dissemination strategies. Assist ViP Panelists with the adoption and use of community-supported technologies.

:Collaborate with the research team to conduct mixed-methods studies on patient experiences and preferences for SUD treatments, with a focus on SGM communities. Assist in gathering and analyzing data from quantitative and qualitative research, such as Discrete Choice Experiments (DCEs), focus groups, and interviews. Contribute to preparing reports, presentations, and publications based on research findings.
