Duties

Provide personalized care to residents or clients by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Monitor patients' health status by observing and recording vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature. Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks, laundry, and sanitation of living spaces. Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's to assist with heavy lifting or mobility support safely. Observe and document patient behaviors, changes in condition, or symptoms related to conditions like dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to develop and implement effective care plans. Follow all safety procedures including CPR and first aid protocols to respond promptly during emergencies. Support residents' social engagement by encouraging participation in activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being. Uphold confidentiality standards by adhering to HIPAA guidelines during all interactions and documentation.

Experience

Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory care needs. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs accurately. Experience in medication administration and understanding of care plans is advantageous. Familiarity with caregiving tools such as Hoyer lifts or resident's is a plus. Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with team members, clients, and families. Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking while maintaining compassion and patience. Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are beneficial. A background in social work or long-term care enhances your ability to provide holistic support tailored to each individual's needs.
