Responsibilities
Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any irregularities promptly
Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met safely
Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and progress; communicate updates to healthcare professionals or family members as needed
Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including specialized dementia or Alzheimer's care and memory support strategies
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning patient areas and laundry
Use assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or resident's to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
Engage residents in social activities or companionship to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation
Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response plans during incidents or accidents
Support hospice or palliative care needs with compassion, respecting the dignity of each individual during sensitive times
Collaborate with team members to develop and update personalized care plans that reflect evolving needs
Experience
Candidates should bring prior experience in caregiving roles within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health settings. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory-related conditions is highly valued. Familiarity with medication administration, patient monitoring techniques, vital signs measurement, and use of mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts is essential. Prior exposure to long-term care environments or hospice care will be considered advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills aligned with social work principles and possess certifications such as CPR and first aid. Experience working within HIPAA guidelines ensures confidentiality is maintained at all times.
