The Career Pathways Training Coordinator will support refugees, immigrants, and WIOA priority populations in accessing career training programs that lead to high-demand careers. This role will be heavily involved in 1:1 coaching and providing wraparound support for participants while they complete training, including those in KOM's pathways programs for careers in: community services, interpreting, healthcare, manufacturing, CDL Class A, and the construction trades. This role works directly with community to recruit, assess, familiarize, and enroll participants. Enrollment and tracking participant progress includes significant data entry and organization. The Training Coordinator is a highly collaborative role, working closely with the financial coaching and job placement staff, ABE, and post-secondary training partners, to ensure programs are accessible and supportive for immigrant populations.
Responsibilities include:
Outreach, Recruitment, & Enrollment:
Develop recruitment strategies and materials
Recruit clients through community outreach, contact with referral partners, hosting information sessions, and other outreach strategies as necessary to meet enrollment goals. Familiarity with using social media platforms for community outreach preferred but not required.
Conduct assessments with applicants to determine if they are a good fit for the program and clearly communicate program expectations with participants prior to enrollment
In partnership with participants, create individualized employment plans designed to support goals and training needs, continually updating the plan to track and celebrate progress
Enroll participants into multiple data systems (Apricot, Salesforce, and Workforce One)
Make referrals to other service providers at KOM and other agencies as appropriate
Vocational Training Support:
Coordinate class schedules with KOM staff, trainers/teachers, and other partners to ensure trainings run smoothly
Facilitate or co-facilitate work readiness lessons with training cohorts
Provide early intervention and coaching for participants struggling with attendance or timeliness, helping develop strategies, routines, and access supports that enable success.
Conduct at least monthly one-on-ones with training participants, monitoring attendance, assignment completion, emerging needs, and progress towards or changes in employment goals
Communicate with training instructors about student progress to help inform one-on-one meetings with participants
Provide support services (ex. issuing gas cards/bus cards, school/training supplies, emergency financial supports) as needed to ensure participants complete trainings and earn certificates
Maintain accurate and organized client records following KOM policies and contract guidelines
Facilitate connections prior to training completion between participants other staff at KOM to ensure a well-coordinated, warm hand-off
General Support:
Attend partner meetings to develop programming, plan activities, and monitor outcomes
Attend weekly KOM staff meetings
Provide walk-in services for refugees to address needs including translation/interpreting, completing paperwork, and contacting other agencies for referrals and follow-up
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Proven ability to effectively connect to diverse immigrant communities and build strong working relationships with others
Strong written and verbal English skills
Must pass a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications
(Any applicant demonstrating the skills needed to do the work outlined above will be considered for this position):
Meet any one of the following levels of experience or commensurate education level:
A.
2 years of experience in any of the following: employment or workforce development/career pathways work, academic services, social services, office or administrative assistance, roles managing others' schedules, community outreach work, or other roles requiring high levels of organization and communication
OR
B.
1 year of experience in any of the above and an associate's degree
OR
C.
A bachelor's degree
Experience working with adult or EL learners
Proficiency in Sgaw Karen, Pwo Karen, Karenni, or Burmese highly desired.
Highly approachable and collaborative work style
Extremely organized with the ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, internet searching, and data entry
Valid Minnesota Driver's License with reliable vehicle, proof of insurance, and good driving record. Must be willing to use personal vehicle to provide transportation for clients with mileage reimbursement provided by KOM at the federal rate.
