RCC seeks applicants for the

Career Coach

position. This is a part-time staff position, working 29 hours/week at our Warsaw campus. The anticipated hiring range is up to $32.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and without benefits.

Reporting to the Coordinator for Office of Career and Transition Services (OCATS), the Career Coach will provide innovative, high-quality coaching services to increase positive outcomes (increased credentials earned, number of work experience placements, and post-completion employment placement) for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Career Help and Mentoring for Parenting Students (CHAMPS) grant. This position will primarily assess the skills, needs, interests, and aptitudes of participants and provide personalized guidance on work experience and career opportunities, and post-completion options. The incumbent will also build networks and obtain cooperation from a variety of partners, including business and industry, entities operating within Virginia's Career Works system, including the Virginia Employment Commission, Career Works centers, Adult Education, and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act providers.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Ability to assess and understand the needs of each unique participant. Strong interpersonal skills to help engage, support and motivate participants. Effective problem-solving skills. Ability to connect with networks and establish effective working partnerships. Communication and outreach skills. Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Considerations

Experience in coaching, counseling or workforce development preferred. Working knowledge of the workforce development system, operations and linkages. Knowledge of labor market trends and opportunities. Understanding of the specific needs of area employers.
