Cardiology Veterinary Technician
We're looking for a mature, competent, and fun Cardiology Technician who brings both strong technical skills and a positive team spirit to every shift.
This role calls for someone who's confident with advanced veterinary procedures, thrives in a fast-paced specialty environment, and knows how to keep calm when things get critical. You should be comfortable with ECGs, echocardiograms, client communication, patient handling, and working closely with our cardiologists to provide top-tier care.
But technical chops aren't everything. We want someone who uplifts the team, communicates clearly, and takes ownership of their role. You'll be part of a collaborative, experienced group that supports each other, shares knowledge, and delivers compassionate care to every patient.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Skills
Schedule appointments and medical procedures for the Cardiologist.
examinations.
Perform appropriate animal restraint for exams and record findings on the exam form.
Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patient histories and maintain patient records by recording all conversations with client in patient file.
Perform venipuncture, catheterization, running CBCs and looking at blood smears.
Obtain laboratory samples including urine and feces.
Prepare appropriate lab request forms and submit appropriate samples.
Prepare specimens to be sent to reference laboratories, ship lab work to, and take results from reference laboratories.
Check laboratory values to make sure they are within normal limits and notify the Cardiologist if they are not.
Administer injectable, oral, and dermal medications.
Give injections in accordance with government regulations and doctor's orders.
Update patient status daily at required times.
Accurately acquire blood pressure and oxygen saturation readings and EKG tracings.
Maintain logs for controlled substances.
Enter charges in the computer and prepare estimates.
Knowledge of Ambulatory ECG placement and recording.
Stock supplies and clean and maintain cardiology suite, equipment, and induction.
Accurately fill out prescription forms and place prescription orders at offsite pharmacies for new and refill prescriptions.
Communicate with referring veterinarians.
Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet and provide accurate information to them regarding procedure for home care and hospital protocols.
Enter patient status daily in the treatment software.
Enter all charges accrued by inpatients and outpatients.
Admit and discharge patients.
Assist with outpatient and inpatient appointments.
Review medical records and notes to discern the nature of the visit and any tests or procedures that may be needed. Keep Cardiologist apprised of potential problems.

Understanding of sterilization techniques for various instruments and materials
Familiarity with federal and state animal health laws, including OSHA and DEA regulations
Consistent, reliable on-site attendance during scheduled shifts
Ability to practice tact, diplomacy, empathy, and patience in all client and team interactions
Sound veterinary medical knowledge and understanding of the hospital's programs, products, and services
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or active Provisional License on track for CO DORA registration.
Minimum 2 years recent veterinary cardiology experience
Skilled in animal handling, lifting, restraint, and able to stand for extended periods.
Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab work, anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and triage.
Solid knowledge of veterinary procedures and terminology; committed to continued learning.
Understanding of OSHA, DEA, and animal health regulations.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Fear Free handling techniques.
Experience with Cornerstone and Instinct software.
