Retreat Program Specialist positions are open at this beautiful 300-acre camp in Oracle, Arizona, just outside of Tucson. This position supports the work of the YMCA of Southern Arizona, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities, at the Triangle YMCA Ranch Camp and Retreat Center. The Retreat Program Specialist is responsible for providing a high-quality experience for adults and children while ensuring the safety of the participants during Triangle Y Ranch Camp & Retreat Center activities, in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A RETREAT PROGRAM SPECIALIST:
Supervises and provides continuous leadership for an assigned group of participants.
Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
Uses problem solving skills to make quick decisions to recognize and evaluate potential dangers or injury.
Checks the program site and surrounding area for hazardous conditions and takes the appropriate actions to resolve any concerns to ensure a safe environment for all.
Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures; completes related reports as required; immediately reports all hazardous or unsafe conditions to supervisor and takes appropriate action when necessary.
Welcomes YMCA members, program participants, and guests.
Engages in active listening with prospects, parents, members, program participants, volunteers, and staff in order to build relationships, understand an individual's concerns, goals, and interests and take the initiative to ensure they have a positive experience. When the opportunity presents itself, go above and beyond to resolve any situation immediately.
Initiates appropriate actions to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization throughout the campus, with priority being in the assigned program area.
Effectively engages with diverse groups of people with different abilities and backgrounds.
Successfully completes and passes periodic skill assessments and drills.
Knows, understands, and consistently follows and enforces all YMCA procedures and policies, including: site rules, safety guidelines, facility access procedures, medical/disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention.
Is familiar with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA. Models the core values while working and communicating with others.
Utilizes available resources to provide accurate information about programs and facilities.
Maintains all job-related certifications are current and on-file.
Ensures the safety and well-being of consumers by maintaining professional boundaries, completing required abuse risk management training, following procedures for high-risk activities and supervision, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations, and adhering to mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Attends and remains current on all mandatory training and staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS OF A RETREAT PROGRAM SPECIALIST:
At least eighteen (18) years of age.
Basic knowledge of youth development
At least six (6) months of experience working with children in a recreational setting preferred.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Certifications required within thirty (30) days: CPR/AED and First Aid for Adults, Children, and Infants.
Completion of YMCA's online training upon date of hire and periodically thereafter.
Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate program activities.
Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card preferred. Must be able to obtain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
Ability to maintain physical and mental readiness.
Previous experience with diverse populations and/or the ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Excellent customer service skills.
Display a positive attitude toward children, families, and staff with a willingness to help others and demonstrate good communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
