INTERN TITLE: Calvary Kids Ministry Intern

DEPARTMENT: Calvary Kids

REPORTS TO: Discipleship & The45 Manager

DAYS/HOURS: Wednesday-Sunday (25 hours)

LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale Campus

Role of the Calvary Kids Ministry Intern:



Ministry Engagement
Assist with weekend services (check-in, worship, teaching, and small groups). Help lead small groups for kids ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade in our preteen ministry (The45). Participate in planning and executing age-appropriate small groups, teaching, and activities. Support the Special Needs Ministry (Kings Kids) by offering assistance when needed throughout services and events for children with varying abilities. Build meaningful relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
Curriculum & Content Development
Assist with writing, reviewing, and preparing engaging Bible-based curriculum. Assist in creating lessons, activity materials, and creative media for effective bible-teaching. Assist with preparing small group materials and supplies weekly. Brainstorm and help implement fun, faith-building activities that support biblical truths.
Event & Program Support
Assist in planning and running events such as Kids Conference, outreach events, family nights, and volunteer appreciation. Support seasonal programming (Christmas, Easter, etc.). Help with classroom setup, teardown, inventory, and general organization.
Leadership & Administrative Tasks
Learn ministry systems including check-in/check-out processes, volunteer scheduling, and safety protocols. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and mentorship opportunities. Provide administrative support (data entry, communication with parents/volunteers, resource organization). Help with volunteer team care--encouraging, praying with, and assisting team members. Assist in other department-related tasks along with the Calvary Kids Staff team.
Learning goals:
Deepen personal relationship with Jesus through consistent spiritual disciplines (prayer, Bible reading, worship). Grow in understanding of child discipleship and how to help kids grow in their faith. Develop a heart for servant leadership, putting others first in practical and spiritual ways. Gain confidence in praying with and for others, including kids, parents, and volunteers. Learn to balance ministry life with personal soul care to avoid burnout and stay rooted in Christ. Understand the structure and weekend flow of the Calvary Kids services, including behind-the-scenes logistics. Learn to confidently lead a small group of children, engaging them in discussion and activities. Develop teaching skills by preparing and delivering age-appropriate Bible lessons. Gain experience supporting children with special needs, learning to create inclusive environments. Assist in planning and executing large-scale events like family nights, or Kids Conference. Learn how to write and adapt Bible-based curriculum for various age groups. Understand the creative process for developing lessons, games, and activities that are fun and faith-filled. Gain experience preparing weekly classroom and small group materials efficiently and accurately. Participate in brainstorming sessions for new curriculum themes, visuals, and experiences. Grow in relational leadership by building meaningful relationships with kids, parents, and volunteers. Practice clear and professional communication through email, text, and in-person conversations. Gain experience giving and receiving feedback with humility and a growth mindset. Learn to lead volunteer teams and support their development, care, and encouragement. Understand ministry systems (like check-in/out processes, safety protocols, scheduling platforms). Develop time management and organizational skills by juggling multiple responsibilities during weekends and events.

Work Schedule:



Wednesday: 9a - 2p

Thursday: 9a - 2p

Friday: 9a - 2p (Internship Cohort)

Saturday: 4p - 8p

Sunday: 8am- 2p



* Hours may vary depending on campus-wide events taking place. Additionally, you may have to bend, sit, or stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, pull, push and/or move up to 35 lbs.
