SciTech Services, Inc. (SciTech) is seeking a Cagewash Technician II to perform crucial activities for maintaining the cleanliness of caging, cage accessories, and overall facility appearance and cleanliness. Cagewash Technician II is responsible for cage sanitation and preparation for reuse in a research setting. Assists with animal husbandry and monitoring sanitary conditions. Maintains cage washing, racks, and equipment in proper operation.

Duties include but are not limited to

:

Clean, sanitize, and sterilize animal cages, racks, caging accessories, and equipment. Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on cage wash machines, bedding dispensers, water bottle fillers, and other equipment. Prepare cages with clean bedding and pertinent accessories such as wire bars, enrichment, water bottles. Operate and maintain rack washers, autoclaves, bottle fillers, bedding dispensers, waste disposal systems, and other sanitation equipment. Transport clean and dirty cages to/from animal holding rooms. Document pH levels, washer temperatures, sanitation procedures, and autoclave cycles to maintain accurate records. Sanitize the cage wash area, support rooms, and corridors to include machine buffing of the epoxy flooring. Understand and follow appropriate safety procedures and quality assurance guidelines. Receive and store materials, food and supplies. Ensure that all logbooks, checklists and other records are completed in a timely fashion. May assist in basic animal husbandry support. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent education required. Ability to lift 50 lbs., pull, push and handle cages, racks, large pieces of equipment, feed, bedding and other materials in the research facility. Safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Ability to withstand adverse weather and environmental conditions. Skills in oral and written communication. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
