CLASSIFICATION: SUPPORT STAFF



JOB TITLE: CAFE MANAGER



CALENDAR: 1967FT (9 MONTH)



SALARY: GRADE 111 (SUPPORT HOURLY)



Job Goal:




To plan, coordinate, and supervise meal service in a school cafeteria with the ability to meet or exceed the organizational vision and mission

Minimum Qualifications:



High school diploma or equivalent desired Ability to read and write English Must possess a Food Manager's certificate At least one year of experience in a progressively responsible position in large-quantity food preparation Knowledge of HACCP and workplace safety requirements Ability to organize and direct the work of others Knowledge of the operation of all kitchen equipment Ability to work with mathematical calculations Ability to communicate with staff, students, and parents regarding the food service program Satisfactory criminal background check

Core Job Functions:



Supervise food service and prepare food items as requested for a school kitchen Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate up to five employees Participate in and/or lead in-service programs Review free & reduced lunch applications Maintain the kitchen in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition Verify and monitor HACCP procedures, including temperature logs Maintain a variety of records and prepare reports, including daily cash report, menu production sheets, employee schedules, free & reduced lunch roster, and others Keep inventory records and take inventory according to established district procedures Order food and supplies from vendors, the warehouse, and the production center Maintain student accounts, collect money, and make summary reports Be responsible for all production records associated with the program Maintain labor hours within budget guidelines Work with student clubs in planning special activities in the dining area Coordinate the setup of special functions on site Perform all duties safely and prudently, and follow district policies as outlined

Physical Requirements - Heavy Work



Required physical actions include stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), and focusing ability. Mobility and lifting require employees to stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces. They must be able to use a push/pull force of up to 50 pounds for machines and lift items up to 30 pounds. Items over 50 pounds require a second staff member to assist. Occasional tasks may require an employee to climb ladders for cleaning or maintenance. Environmental exposures may include travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, workspace restrictions, and loud noises. The physical demands described are representative of those an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential job functions.
