Lead the planning and procurement of materials to continuously support production schedules and new product launches.
Negotiate prices, delivery terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely supply.
Analyze price trends, inventory forecasts, and provide recommendations during the annual standard costing process.
Manage purchase orders using ERP systems (e.g., JDE) and vendor portals, including Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) oversight.
Implement and oversee complex procurement strategies that optimize cost, inventory, and service levels while ensuring continued supply.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues such as non-conforming materials, supplier capacity constraints, or unclear specifications.
Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) to address supplier-related issues and make recommendations on rejected material disposition.
Establish and maintain inventory targets and develop action plans to achieve them.
Identify and execute cost reduction and cycle time improvement initiatives.
Planning:
Develop and manage the
Manufacturing Production Plan
based on the Master Production Schedule and project requirements.
Optimize and resolve scheduling issues impacting manufacturing flow and resource availability.
Generate and manage work orders in the ERP system, coordinating with production, quality, engineering, and microbiology teams to ensure schedule adherence.
Provide weekly performance updates and root cause analysis to Global Demand Management (GDM).
Collaborate with Engineering on validation activities and assess the impact of changes to production planning.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in purchasing and/or production control within a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word).
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., JDE) preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak).
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory management (JIT/Kanban), and procurement procedures.
Understanding of UCC and contract law preferred.
CPM and/or CPIM certification preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in cross-functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain and update MRP parameters within the ERP system.
Ensure compliance with
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)
and
Quality System
requirements.
Properly handle, store, and dispose of waste according to applicable laws and internal procedures.
