JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer II is responsible for purchasing and managing inventories of materials, supplies, and equipment to support Anguil's Production Schedule and inventory goals. This role involves more complex purchasing tasks and requires a higher level of experience and expertise compared to Buyer I. The Buyer II collaborates closely with Operations, Fabrication Shops, Engineering, Warehousing, and Project Management to ensure efficient material flow, while adhering to Company Policy and Procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Buyer II will be expected to perform: Issue and manage material Purchase Orders in accordance with Anguil's Procurement strategy
Maintain clear records of all confirmations, updates, and issues associated with each Purchase Order. Follow up on open deliverables regularly.
Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with suppliers and peers. Assist in identification of potential new suppliers and evaluate their capabilities.
Resolve delivery delays, communication gaps, or other supply issues with suppliers as they occur. Escalate when necessary. Visits to suppliers will be rare but may be necessary periodically as determined by Department Leadership.
Prioritize actively and respond to time-sensitive needs. Proactively provide support for Department and Internal/External Customers as business needs evolve.
Maintain purchasing files and ERP system data, including Pricing and Lead Time information
Analyze cost increases and decreases in relation to historical data, market factors, Supplier relationships, etc., and push back on price increases where opportunities are identified. Assist in higher level negotiations as assigned by Manager.
Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance
Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
Match/reconcile Invoices against Purchase Orders and perform Receiving functions as necessary
Stay up to date on commonly used purchasing concepts and practices
Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral
Participate confidently in departmental continuous improvement strategies

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Comprehensive knowledge of Purchasing, Sourcing or Procurement functions in a Manufacturing environment. Experience working with Contract Manufacturers or highly customized assemblies a plus.
Strong computer skills, including MS Office and knowledge of ERP systems
Understanding of project costing and budgeting process for labor, materials and sub-contractors
Ability to make sound judgement decisions with limited facts available
Self-confidence with strong organization and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work flexible and irregular hours from time to time due to customer needs or critical deadlines, as directed by Management
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Manufacturing, Operations or Supply Chain related
At least four (4) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred
+ APICS/ASCM Certification a plus
