We're seeking a

Buyer

who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. This role is critical to ensuring that our supply chain delivers the quality, precision, and reliability our aircraft are known for.


As a Buyer at MD Helicopters, you'll be responsible for the procurement of raw materials, components, assemblies, supplies, and services while meeting strict schedules and budget expectations. You'll manage purchasing activity from end to end including supplier qualification, proposal development, contract negotiation, and performance management and play a key role in ensuring our production and overhaul programs run seamlessly.


This position requires strong analytical thinking, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.




Key Responsibilities



Execute procurement based on purchase requisitions and MRP requirements while maintaining compliance with established processes and policies. Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with production, spares, and repair objectives. Manage the full procurement lifecycle, including requests for proposals, purchase orders, contract negotiations, and supplier performance. Collaborate with Program Managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Finance to ensure pricing accuracy, material availability, and schedule adherence. Analyze market trends and perform cost modeling to drive competitive sourcing decisions. Maintain accurate and detailed purchasing records, including change orders and amendments. Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, and delivery in collaboration with internal departments. Evaluate supplier procedures to identify opportunities for cost reduction, lead time improvement, and performance enhancement. Track and report on supplier metrics to ensure targets for quality, delivery, and cost are consistently achieved. Support continuous improvement initiatives by developing policies, procedures, and process enhancements. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers, building strong professional relationships that support long-term business goals.

Qualifications



Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or procurement within manufacturing or aerospace. Strong negotiation and analytical skills with proven experience managing supplier relationships. Solid understanding of MRP/ERP systems and purchasing processes. Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and balance competing priorities effectively. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES



Experience and understanding of an MRP / ERP system (preferably JD Edwards) preferred. Strong negotiation skills required. General understanding of purchasing policies, processes and procedures. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite. (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools. Ability to read, analyze and interpret MRP reports, purchase requisitions, RFQ's, and supplier contracts. Ability to understand engineering processes and interpret engineering drawings. The successful candidate must be aggressive but yet professional on behalf of the company and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment. Ability to generate quantitative improvements in supplier delivery, quality, and costs is very desirable. Ability to work in a global environment and build trust with variety of cultures. Self-motivated, persistent, hands-on, result oriented, well organized with ability to handle multiple projects within expected time frame. Must be proactive and have a sense of urgency to meet the demands of all customers and have the ability to think ahead of potential problems. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organization skills are required. The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team. Access to Export Control Information. Regular attendance at the worksite.



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE




Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or University required, with 2-4 years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferences will be given to: 1) Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology/Management, Finance and Accounting Degrees. 2) Specific military or commercial Aerospace or OEM airframer procurement experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS




Purchasing and supply management profession certifications such as: Institute of Supply Management's CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), The Certified in Supply Management (CSM) preferred.
