Job Description

Under general direction, the Business Services Specialist is responsible for providing pre- and post-loan training and technical assistance to entrepreneurs in one-on-one or group settings. Pre-loan training and technical assistance involves reviewing and understanding the entrepreneur's business plan, concepts and/or ideas, and the four major components (Marketing Plan, Operational Plan, Management Plan, and Financial Plan) that will be used to determine business success. Post-loan training and technical assistance involve frequent analysis of a borrower's performance as it relates to repayments and compliance with loan covenants. The work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature and requires a significant level of trust and diplomacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Review financial statements, tax returns, and all other available sources of credit and financial information including but not limited to accounts receivable and accounts payable aging reports, equipment schedules, bank account statements, business and personal credit reports, industry reports, and equipment and real estate appraisals to assess the Technical Assistance (TA) needs of the small business.

Responsible for engaging a portfolio of existing clients by conducting periodic reviews and needs assessment, following up with clients by phone or site visits, and providing ongoing TA as needed to sustain, grow, and reach clients stated financial and business goals,

Coordinate, market/promote, and facilitate periodic pre- and post-loan Training and Technical Assistance Workshops in communities throughout Access Plus Capital's service area. Responsibilities include presenting curriculum for financial, credit, and business start-up and growth education modules.

Provide program orientation meetings with existing and prospective borrowers, conduct in-depth needs assessments, and develop and deliver individualized technical assistance plans for meeting those needs.

Maintain and expand relationships with borrowers and prospects by conducting site visits, providing technical assistance, making referrals to partners, and following up with support comprising of one-on-one business consulting in a range of topics including business operations, management, marketing, technology, financial management, and accounting.

Responsible for maintaining and fostering relationships with business service providers and contracted consultants within the communities supported by Access Plus Capital.

Maintain a current understanding of all relevant (Internal, State, Federal, etc.) policies and procedures, including regulatory lending compliance guidelines.

Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.

Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Works evenings and weekends as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:



Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required additional work experience may substitute on year for year basis.

EXPERIENCE:



Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with small businesses providing one-on-one and, classroom, and group training required.

Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in finance/banking sector preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:



Knowledge of business financial statements including income statements and cash flow statements and the ability to assist clients with the development and review of such statements.

Bilingual language skills are preferred. Please list any languages, other than English, in which you are fluent.

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.

Understanding of personal and business credit including the ability to evaluate credit reports.

Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.

Excellent customer contact and follow-up skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and contacts with professional and business organizations and develop teamwork with co-workers on related units.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software. Ability to learn new database systems

Effective presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.

Maintain a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by Access Plus Capital carrier for those driving personal vehicles on behalf of the organization.

Prior to employment, a criminal background investigation and credit history check must be passed. Ongoing employment requires maintaining criminal clearance, an acceptable credit history, and eligibility to participate in Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan Programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.70 - $33.40 per hour

Expected hours: 37.50 per week
