Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY




The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer designs, develops, and maintains data infrastructure and analytics solutions to support informed decision-making and operational excellence. This role focuses on transforming raw data from multiple systems into meaningful insights through dashboards, reports, and data models. Working closely with clinical, financial, and operational leaders, the BI Developer ensures the integrity, performance, and usability of enterprise data and reporting systems.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



Education and Experience



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field or similar work experience required. Minimum of 3 years' experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or database development, preferably in a healthcare environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and general healthcare computer technology. Experience with SQL, ETL development, and data visualization platforms such as Power BI, SSRS, Crystal Reports, or Tableau. Strong understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and query optimization. Experience supporting financial applications and workflow development, including Payroll (ADP) and Finance systems (Multiview, Meditech, or similar platforms). Knowledge of healthcare operations, finance, and reporting processes Familiarity with Epic Clarity or similar Electronic Health Record (EHR) databases (preferred). Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Epic preferred).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



Data Integration and Architecture



Develop and maintain data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from core systems (HR, finance, and clinical applications) into data repositories or warehouses. Design and optimize data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics needs. Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, security, and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards across systems and databases. Collaborate with application analysts and database administrators to maintain efficient data pipelines and performance.

Reporting and Analytics Development



Design, build, and deploy reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI, Epic Cogito, or similar platforms. Translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications and reporting solutions that deliver actionable insights. Automate recurring reports and develop self-service reporting tools for end users. Validate and reconcile data across multiple systems to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.

Collaboration and Support



Partner with department leaders to identify key metrics develop reporting strategies that align with organizational goals. Provide technical expertise and support for data-driven quality improvement, operational efficiency, and financial performance initiatives. Document BI solutions, data definitions, and workflows for internal reference and sustainability. Participate in data governance and standardization efforts to improve data quality and accessibility.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement



Research and recommend new BI tools, data visualization techniques, and analytics best practices. Assist in advancing the hospital's data maturity by supporting initiatives in predictive analytics and population health reporting. Stay current with evolving healthcare reporting standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, UDS, cost reporting, quality metrics).
