Objective / Purpose
The Business Development Manager will lead strategic customer development within the
automotive OEM and Tier-1 supply base
. This role drives new business growth by identifying opportunities, building executive-level relationships, and securing long-term commercial agreements for die-cast and machined components. As the primary commercial interface between Konec and our key automotive customers, this leader plays a critical role in revenue expansion and market penetration in the U.S.
This is a B2B industrial sales position. Retail or dealership automotive experience is not applicable.
This position supports customers primarily located in the Michigan area. Because of this, the role requires frequent travel between Houston (our U.S. headquarters) and Michigan automotive customer sites. Candidates may be based in either location, but must be able to travel regularly to support key OEM and Tier-1 programs.
Principal Roles & Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic growth plans with OEM and Tier-1 automotive customers
Identify and secure RFQs for new die-cast and machined component programs
Provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle -- from quotation to SOP
Negotiate pricing, long-term agreements, cost reductions, and commercial terms
Lead on-site customer engagement, plant visits, and program launch support
Monitor industry trends and competitive activities in the automotive supply chain
Collaborate with internal engineering, estimating, and production teams to ensure business feasibility and delivery performance
Serve as account owner with full responsibility for relationship management and customer satisfaction
Support trade shows, business reviews, and executive-level client meetings
Abilities & Qualifications
Required
10+ years of B2B automotive manufacturing sales experience
Strong network and proven success with
OEM and Tier-1 supplier decision makers
Technical understanding of
die casting, machining, or metal components
Skilled negotiator with ability to manage complex commercial programs
Ability to travel regularly (domestic) as customer needs require
Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-relationship skills
Preferred
Experience launching new products into OEM programs
Background in powertrain, drivetrain, or structural components
Engineering or technical degree
