THE NEED

There are 2 ways to qualify.

1. If you already possess a valid California Class B commercial driver\'s license with passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements and a valid California Special Driver Certificate and a valid First Aid Certification issued by an authorized agency, please attach it to your application.

2. If you do not have the necessary licenses, we offer paid training to assist you with obtaining the certifications required. In addition to the paid training, all certification costs are also paid by district.

THE POSITION

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, drive a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently to and from school and other assigned locations along designated routes; assure safety of students during transportation activities.

TESTING INFORMATION

Step 1: Application Screening (pass/fail) Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. If applicant does not have the required experience and certifications, an invitation to participate in our training program will be issued so you may become qualified to move to the next step.

Step 2: Qualification Appraisal Interview (weighted 100%) A Qualification Appraisal Interview for this classification is not scheduled at this time, however applicants may access the Job Details section in this posting to check for updates.

All applicants must achieve a passing score in each part of the examination process in order to be placed on the eligibility list.

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION

Step 1: $23.11 (initial placement)
Step 2: $24.43 (6 months)
Step 3: $25.82 (1 year)
Step 4: $27.29 (2 years)
Step 5: $28.84 (3 years)

All new hires will be placed at Step 1 of the salary schedule and will advance to Step 2 after successfully completing the six-month probationary period.

Longevity increments are offered based on years of service with the District: an additional 1.20% of base salary per year after completing 4 years of service; 4.10% of base salary per year after completing 9 years of service; 7.08% of base salary per year after completing 14 years of service; 10.15% of base salary per year after completing 19 years of service; 13.31% of base salary per year after completing 24 years of service.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (Upon Offer of Employment)

Employment Verification: Federal law requires that the District verify the identity and employment authorization of each person hired, complete and retain a Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, and refrain from discriminating against individuals on the basis of national origin or citizenship.

Tuberculosis Risk Assessment: Individuals selected for employment are required to submit to a tuberculosis risk assessment, and, if risk factors are identified, may be required to submit to a tuberculosis examination to determine freedom from tuberculosis.

Physical Exam: The District reserves the right to require a prospective employee to pass a job related physical examination.

Conviction Information and Fingerprints: State law requires that all selected candidates be fingerprinted to check for and/or verify conviction records. California Education Code prohibits a governing board of a school district from employing a person until the Department of Justice completes its check of the criminal history file (and the Federal Bureau of Investigation when required). California Education Code provisions prohibit the employment of persons convicted of a violent or serious felony, and also govern the employment of individuals convicted of specified sex and/or controlled substance offenses. All candidates with a conviction record for offenses other than minor traffic violations, must file a conviction record statement with their application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an individual from employment. Failure to disclose any conviction which has not been officially expunged per California Penal Code \xc2\xa71203.4, will result in disqualification or dismissal.

Other: Eligibles will be required to provide a current DMV report and/or proof of auto insurance to the Classified Human Resources Department before being certified for a final selection interview for positions that require the employee to drive a district vehicle and/or hold a valid California driver\'s license.
