The Position: The King Arthur Bread Baker is responsible for from-scratch production of all bread-side baked goods, including hearth breads, rolls, and pan loaves. The individual in this role works with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Experience in both artisan bread and pastry production. The King Arthur Baking Bread Baker gains ongoing training within the bakery with and from their team of dedicated and talented bakers. The Shift: 40 hours per week. May work either four 10 hour days, or five 8 hour days based on maker preference and manager discretion. Start time is either 3:00am or 3:30am. One weekend day each week is required. Regular schedule will include two days off in a row. Location: Onsite, Norwich, VT



Pay: $18.87-$20.50. Individual offers will be based upon a candidate\'s qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Executes all areas of bread production as trained by the team
  • Uses baker\xe2\x80\x99s math to read and adjust formulas, along with fixing errors if problems arise
  • Adheres to and maintain all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Adheres to Bakery Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Utilizes their King Arthur training to accomplish all tasks accurately and safely using our standard commercial baking equipment.
  • Adheres to department punctuality expectations to support bread production.
  • Completes bakery administration tasks as necessary. This may include product ordering, communicating with wholesale accounts, maintenance of ingredient pars
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings, bring suggestions for improvement, and engages in the development of the bakery.

Minimum job requirements

  • Passion for baking and the dedication to consistently produce exceptional baked goods.
  • Proficiency and accuracy with scaling, mixing, shaping, baking, and finish work.
  • Knowledge of shaping baguettes, boules, batards, pan loaves, and rolls
  • Comfortable with mixing dough and using a spiral mixer
  • Knowledge of how to score and bake bread in a deck oven
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and early mornings, in accordance with business needs
  • Ability to interact well with others (team members, customers, etc.) in all situations
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pastry experience a plus
  • Effectively shares space, ingredients and equipment with coworkers during production
  • Ability to do dishes, clean and sanitize bakery.
  • Has a desire for continuously improving baking skills

    • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently push, pull, move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
