The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
We are looking for employees who are passionate about giving whatever it takes to build a great future for kids. The Branch Director directs and manages overall daily operations of a branch/unit under the control of the organization with the primary concern for a comprehensive, outcome-driven program and service delivery. Also supervises and trains staff (direct and indirect reports), handles personnel issues, manages facility, develops and manages a budget, actively engages and supports a Unit Advisory Council, and manages community relations, volunteers, and membership administration.
Will require occasional travel to Mobile for staff meetings and other training/development sessions (at least once per month) . Some training will take place as a half-day event on a Saturday, typically not more than once per quarter. There may be other training opportunities at the regional and national levels of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

HOURS:
Academic Year - Monday through Friday
between
10:00 AM and 6:30 PM
Summers - Monday through Friday
between
7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
This timetable varies based on scheduled Club hours and the discretion of the Director of Operations. Extra hours as needed for special events, sometimes on weekends.
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience
Min. age 25, and acceptable driving record (to comply with BGCSA insurance requirements)
Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff
Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems
Working knowledge of budget preparation, control and management
Skilled at fundraising events
Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a Boys and Girls Club after-school program environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers with multiple software programs, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position can at times be a sedentary role. However, during active periods considerable attention to the movement of members, parents, and visitors throughout the facility is required. Bending or standing and some lifting, as necessary.
Visual:
Normal acuity required daily for making color distinction, depth of sight, preparing/analyzing figures, computer use, and written records 8+ hours
Communication:
Able to express thoughts and ideas in an accurate and understandable manner through verbal and written format with internal and external contacts 8 hours per day
Movement:
Ability to maneuver within work site 6-8 hours per day
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing/Carrying:
Able to comfortably move and manipulate up to 20 lbs of weight up to 4-6 hours per day
NOTE:
All candidates are required to undergo a criminal background and driving records check, a pre-employment drug screen, fingerprinting and a child abuse review by AL Department of Human Resources. Some sites will also require a TB test and basic physical. (All screens are employer-paid.)
