QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED required.B.S. Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Exercise Science, Physical Education or other related field is preferred. One year of leadership experience required (either formal or informal). Experience managing, supervising, and providing oversight of recreation programming to include the creation of aquatics, intramural sport programming, and/or fitness services preferred. Minimum of two years professional work with children and families, wellness program administration preferred. Excellent customer service with an ability to establish and maintain supportive working relationships within the team, the public, service groups, and facility users with focus on the needs in the community required. Must have an ability to work as a member of the Boys & Girls team, programming Club/ Intramural/ League/ Recreational programming for Club/ community youth. Valid driver\'s license and evidence of insurability as well as three-year motor vehicle report required. Prior experience working in a tribal setting preferred. Satisfactory completion of a background check required. Current First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard Certification required or ability to obtain within the first 6 months of hire. Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days/evenings/weekend hours as programming requires.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employee is available for scheduled work shifts regularly and communicates absence to supervisor in a timely manner if unavailable.

  • Work with staff to manage and schedule youth recreational programming, in conjunction with other events and activities.
  • Ability to perform lifeguard duties, supervise employees performing lifeguard duties as necessary to ensure effective and safe operations.
  • Consistently demonstrate positive, effective communication skills and interactions with the Wellness Services Director, Wellness Services Operations team, employees, members, volunteers, other agencies and organizations.
  • Ability to collect, integrate, analyze, and use data to compare and make recommendations for program development or changes.
  • Assist as needed in planning, staffing special events/activities, in collaboration with the Adult & Family Recreation Manager/Wellness Services team.
  • Excellent public relation and customer service skills.
  • Professional and timely verbal and written communication, including responses and updates to support programming.
  • Serves as Manager on Duty as requested by Boys & Girls Club Manager.
  • Ensures smooth facility reservation and usage in adherence with organization policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Works as a liaison to and plans programming in collaboration with the Adult & Family Recreation Manager.
  • Responsible for coordinating orientation and training of youth recreation staff and volunteers.
  • Schedule youth recreation staff and volunteers.
  • Make requests for staff in support to events/activities in a timely manner, working directly with Boys & Girls Club Manager.
  • Assist Boys & Girls Club Manager with developing the recreational components of the annual budget to include facility-specific revenues, labor cost, and other expenses for Health Board consideration and approval.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies for multiple facilities assuring all equipment, classes and programming needs are met (equipment, chemicals etc.).
  • Makes recommendations for equipment purchases and repairs while following budget guidelines.
  • Addresses any maintenance concerns immediately, asking for assistance from Facilities if unable to resolve the problem.
  • Establish recreational program with Trauma Informed Care considerations, ensuring staff training and awareness.
  • Support and support processes for member checkout/check in of recreational equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other internal/external departments on the planning and facilitation of recreational programming.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Adult and Family Recreation Manager on programs and equipment.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing the youth annual recreational calendar, in coordination with center wide programming for youth/adults/families to avoid event/activity conflicts.
  • Attends organization staff meetings as required, serve on assigned committees, and prepare reports as requested.
  • Assists Boys & Girls Club Manager with programming, relations, advertising and other requests in a timely manner in partnership with the Marimn Health Marketing team.
  • Responds in a timely manner to assignments and communicates with the Boys & Girls Club Manager when timelines cannot be met.
  • Perform daily walk through of facility to check safety of recreational programming space, ensuring programming areas meet health, safety, and cleanliness guidelines, and ensuring workspace is presentable.
  • Work and direct others to work in a safe manner in adherence to Marimn Health policy and procedure.
  • Assist Boys & Girls Club Manager in resolving all Member issues or concerns related to youth recreation programming and services, tracking reports in Compliatric system.
  • Assists Boys & Girls Club Manager with the administration and operation of youth recreation facilities and programs.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations in management of youth recreation programs, making recommendations for youth recreation programming to the Boys & Girls Club Manager.
