Position Overview

Stratton\'s premier Ski Shop, First Run is currently seeking an experienced boot fitter. If you are passionate about the outdoors and mountain lifestyle and the equipment that makes it all possible then we would love to speak with you! Experience and Master Fit University is helpful, but we are willing and able to provide training to the right candidate. Anyone who has ever worn an ill-fitting pair of boots understands the important role of a boot fitter! There are both part time and full-time winter positions available, with a pay of $20.00/hour!

The boot fitter understands the properties of the equipment, the interaction of the equipment and the foot, and is proficiently knowledgeable at evaluating feet and the fitting of ski and snowboard boots. This position will also possess the knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and biomechanics to assess the clients\' locomotion, gait, kinesiology, physiotherapy, and other related aspects of performance. With the knowledge mentioned above, the objective is to sell ski boots and foot beds and make modifications in and out of the boot to enhance the comfort and performance of the ski, snowboard and any other athletic footwear presented.

Essential Tasks:
  • In conjunction with the hard goods buyer, the boot fitter will review sale histories and sell through reports for boots and boot accessories to create the following;
  • Buy plan
  • Sales plan
  • Markdown plan
  • Assist manager as secondary interviewer to ensure quality of technical staff
  • Assess skiers or riders\' alignment through visual evaluation and physiological methods
  • Analyze basic foot functions relative to boot shape kinesiology and stance for optimum fit and performance
  • Understand techniques for boot modifications, stance alignment protocols
  • Ability to present educational discussions on biomechanics to various guests, mountain staff
  • Provide input on staff selection
  • Work with hardgoods buyer to create the appropriate selection of ski boots during the buying cycle
  • Demonstrate to skier/rider how modifications can benefit the performance of the equipment
  • Fabrication of custom foot beds
  • Additional daily store duties include, but are not limited to, merchandising, inventory control, assisting customers in purchasing the right product, ringing customers out, and maintaining the general cleanliness and order of the store.
Ongoing Duties:
  • General cleanliness of work area
  • Competencies in handling monies and POS systems
  • Assist manager with boot fitters\' schedules
  • Maintenance of equipment to ensure safety for everyone
Requirements or Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of working with ski and snowboard boots
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Uphold Customer service standards
  • Computer knowledge in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs.
The ideal candidate for this role is a skiing enthusiast with knowledge of ski equipment, and is patient and able to work well with people. Custom boot work combines a working knowledge of biomechanics and the ability to grind, stretch and manipulate various materials.
