Tiner\xe2\x80\x99s Alley with its entrance from the alleyway, is an intimate tavern offering classic English fare and libations served across a historic Brunswick bar. A completely unique, service-centric experience with exceptional culinary offerings, The Avery will be a port of call for curious travelers and a sought-after experience for locals. The Position The bookkeeper/controller will complete all accounting and reporting activities for the hotel and restaurant. Responsibilities include handling financial reporting tasks and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, completing daily tasks such as payroll, invoicing, accounts payable, and bookkeeping. Bookkeeper/Controllers also help with budget planning and financial strategizing with restaurant and hotel executives and ownership. You may work with managers on cost comparison activities, financial forecasting, and other assessments to improve the financial performance of the restaurant. The Bookkeeper/Controller will be a crucial member of the team, taking care of vital financial tasks and providing important financial reporting, to support a cohesive, well-informed team to achieve the property\xe2\x80\x99s mission and financial goals. Bookkeeper/Controller Tasks:

  • Responsible for the properties overall accounting and financial management requirements.
  • Responsible for the local tax authority compliance of the hotel.
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing annual budgets, monthly forecasts, operating results with management team.
  • Responsible for verifying all financial reports and ensuring that all transactions are accurate and in compliance with local government regulations.
  • Able to prepare and submits management reports in a timely manner and also ensuring delivery deadlines.
  • Able to effectively implement all accounting policies and procedures.
  • Able to ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard property assets.
  • Monitors all local tax compliance that applies and ensuring that taxes are charged correctly and collected.
  • File the local tax with the concerned authority on a monthly/regular basis.
  • Monitor operation costs, profitabilityand manage business risks.
  • Ensures profits and losses are documentedaccurately.
  • Daily reconciliation and batching credit cards
  • Daily reconciliation and balancing all tills and making starting tills
  • Daily accounting for tips
  • Processing all A/P \xe2\x80\x93 including paying beer/wine vendors when deliveries arrive
  • Tracking and recording all deposits \xe2\x80\x93 including going to the bank as needed
  • Checking and preparing employees hours for payroll processing
  • Monthly Cost of Goods sold accounting and entries.
  • Monthly journal entries as needed for accurate financial statements.
  • Gift card accounting
Basic Requirements:
  • Strong accounting skills
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Bookkeeper/Controller
  • Excellent understanding of finance, accounting, inventory management, budgets and payroll.
  • Basic computer skills: Windows, MS Word, Excel
  • Should be self-directed, but also can work well with others, especially Hotel and Restaurant Managers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree in accounting, business administration, or inventory management.
  • Experience working for a restaurant or hotel.
  • Experience working at with a team.
