Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, mission-aligned

Bookkeeper

to manage the financial records for both

Nazareth Housing

and its nonprofit construction subsidiary,

Nazareth Construction

. This role is central to ensuring fiscal transparency, supporting audits and compliance, and maintaining smooth day-to-day financial operations across both entities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain

full-cycle bookkeeping

for two nonprofit entities using QuickBooks or similar accounting software Process

accounts payable and receivable

, including vendor and subcontractor payments, receipts, and invoice tracking Reconcile

bank accounts and credit card statements

monthly Generate and print

financial reports

(e.g., P&L, balance sheets, job cost summaries) for internal and external stakeholders Support

annual audits

by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit grant requirements Track

restricted/unrestricted funds

, grants, and project-specific budgets Maintain organized

digital and physical financial records

Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate

job costing

and timely payment processing Assist with

payroll processing

and benefits tracking as needed Support

financial reporting to funders

, including city, county, and private grantors
Required Skills & Qualifications

Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's preferred) Minimum

3 years of bookkeeping experience

, ideally in nonprofit and/or construction environments Proficiency in

QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online)

and Microsoft Excel Strong understanding of

GAAP

,

fund accounting

, and

job costing

Experience with

audit preparation

and working with external accountants or CPAs Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset Commitment to

confidentiality and data integrity


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with

federal, state, or local grant compliance

Familiarity with

prevailing wage tracking

and subcontractor documentation Knowledge of

construction billing cycles
