Bondsman & Civil Process Server (Independent Contractor)

About the Position

Judicial Services Group and Lodise Bail Bonds are seeking a highly motivated and dependable individual to serve in a dual-capacity role as a Civil Process Server and Bondsman covering Jackson County and surrounding areas. This is a full-time independent contractor opportunity offering a dynamic, fast-paced workload with significant earning potential based on effort, availability, and performance.

Primary Responsibilities

Civil Process Server - Judicial Services Group

Serve civil court documents including summonses, subpoenas, complaints, garnishments, evictions, and related legal notices. Conduct diligent attempts and ensure compliance with Michigan Court Rules. Complete accurate affidavits of service, return of service, and electronic reporting. Maintain reliable service logs, GPS data, and case documentation. Communicate with courts, law firms, and office staff regarding service progress and instructions.

Bondsman - Lodise Bail Bonds

Assist clients in completing bond applications and paperwork. Educate clients on bond conditions and court obligations. Conduct skip tracing, investigations, and follow-up to ensure client compliance. If desired, perform fugitive recovery efforts within Michigan law when clients fail to appear. Coordinate with courts, sheriff's offices, attorneys, and other agencies as needed. Maintain accurate records of all bond-related activities.

Minimum Requirements

Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable personal transportation. Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation. Strong communication skills and professional presence. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle sensitive situations with discretion. Smartphone proficiency and comfort using mobile reporting tools. Must be able to interact with the public calmly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in bail bonds, civil process serving, law enforcement, or related legal fields. Knowledge of Michigan Court Rules concerning civil process. Experience in skip tracing, investigative work, or fugitive recovery. Prior field-based or self-directed work experience.

Compensation

This is an independent contractor position with performance-based pay. Compensation is structured per document served, per bond written, and per recovery effort. Earnings vary based on workload, hours committed, and personal productivity.
