As our Biological Process Consultant, you will work with operators of new plants to ensure their plants start up with the treatment process delivering as designed and help existing plants troubleshoot process issues to remain in compliance with environmental standards. Responsibilities
Analyze and optimize treatment systems:
Assess biological treatment processes of new and existing Aero-Mod plants
Advise operators on operations to meet performance requirements
Troubleshoot operational issues:
Investigate the root cause of process problems
Develop and implement corrective actions
Conduct research and development:
Assist design and process engineers in developing R&D projects
Assist operators and process engineers in implementing and assessing R&D projects
Provide technical training:
Educate and train plant operators and other staff on how to operate and monitor complex biological processes
Conduct operator training at plants and at Aero-mod
Ensure regulatory compliance:
Help clients meet discharge permit limits by developing and implementing strategies for various parameters, including biological oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), and nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus)
Stay current with industry trends:
Keep up-to-date with new technologies and emerging best practices in wastewater treatment
Traveling:
>25% Travel required
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in biology preferred but applicable experience can be looked at as equally weighted
Advanced understanding of wastewater biology, chemistry, and microbiology
Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants
Experience in diagnosing and solving complex biological process problems
Experience in interpreting and analyzing laboratory and operational data to identify trends and performance issues
Current or previous Wastewater Operator Certification
Key Success Factors
Effective written and oral communication skills for preparing reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to resolve problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment
Ability to translate data into quantifiable actions/deliverables
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, operators, and clients
Aptitude for conducting both applied and theoretical research
