The bindery operator is a skilled position responsible for setting up and operating various
bindery equipment to produce high-quality finished printed materials according to customers
specifications.This role is a member of the PPPWU (Printing, Packaging & Production Workers Union) bargaining unit, and employment is subject to the terms and conditions of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The successful candidate will perform duties in a fast-paced environment, adhering to all safety and production standards.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Set up, operate and maintain bindery equipment, including but not limited to, cutters, folders,
stitchers, collators and perfect binders.
- Read and interpret job tickets and specifications to ensure all work is completed accurately
and on schedule.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet the customer's requirements
and quality standards.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot any mechanical
Issues.
- Follow all company and union safety rules and regulations to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Move and organize materials, including loading and unloading paper stock.
Qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience as a Bindery Operator in a print production environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting bindery equipment.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
