Overview

To assist the MLL classroom teacher in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students may take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources. To provide bilingual support to parents in matters pertaining to school functions, classroom activities, and assist classroom teacher in meeting diverse needs of Multilingual Learner.

Duties

1. Assist teacher with classroom setup and instruction by monitoring and assisting students with completing daily tasks/classwork.

2. Perform administrative duties including but not limited to clerical functions related to implementation of lesson plans, record keeping/data collection, helping organize class events, etc..

3. Responsible for preparing both academic and technological learning materials based on daily lesson plans.

4. Participate in the instructional program under the direction of a certified teacher; assist teacher by leading small groups and individualized instruction for identified students.

5. Assist teacher with classroom/behavior management, implementing techniques and strategies to address/re-direct behaviors.

6. Supervise students during transitional and recreational activities.

7. Attend professional development, IEP, and various meetings.

8. Ensure communication materials are distributed to parents.

9. Act as translator/interpreter when needed for communication with parents and guardians.

10. Assist the ESOL Parent Advocate as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum of 60 hours of college credit or qualified passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test, based on the SC scale. oMust have excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish.
