Class Summary


This Part-time Clerk is responsible for providing customer service, clerical skills, and lifelong-learning opportunities. Opportunities will focus on youth development, agriculture, urban agriculture, horticulture, water quality protection, nutrition and health, meal planning, family finance, and aging.
Essential Duties

  • Communicating with English and Spanish participants, community groups, and staff members
  • Providing assistance in submitting, processing, mailing, and obtaining results for soil and water lab analysis
  • Providing customer service and responding to basic homeowner gardening inquiries via walk-ins, emails, and phone calls; as well as triaging complicated questions to higher levels of expertise
  • Providing hands-on training to Master Gardener Extension Volunteers
  • Preparing educational handouts and assembling supplies for classes, programs, and events
  • Assisting with registering virtual and in-person class participants
  • Assisting with preparing and distributing activity kits for hands-on learning labs
  • Communicating the objectives and activities of the program, and collecting evaluations
Grade
The grade for this position is 97. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of general office or customer service experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of horticulture experience
  • Valid driver\'s license

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner that stresses the County\'s values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
