Coordinate the provision of services in Spanish and coordinate outreach efforts to increase awareness of Spanish language service availability. Provide advocacy services for survivors of sexual assault.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Increase awareness of SASC's ability to provide program services in Spanish.
Advocate for survivors of sexual violence and their significant others with the criminal justice system, with a primary focus on services for the Hispanic communities.
Advocate for survivors of sexual violence and their significant others with the healthcare system, with a primary focus on services for the Hispanic communities.
Provide case management and crisis intervention services with a primary focus on services for members of the Hispanic/Latino communities.
Develop connections with the Hispanic/Latino communities and organizations in order to promote use of sexual assault services.
Provide services in Spanish to clients who prefer to communicate in Spanish.
Translate materials into Spanish, as needed.
Assist with assuring a 24-hour response for crisis intervention by participating in on-call duties, which include weekends and holidays.
Provide direct service to survivors of sexual abuse/assault
Represent GACS/Sexual Assault Services Center in academic, community, faith-based, and professional organizations as assigned.
Submit all reports, oral and written, in an accurate and timely manner as required by GACS and in accordance with contractual obligations
Structure and oversee volunteer activities related to bilingual services.
Communicate problems and issues within the Sexual Assault Service Center to the Program Director
Assist GACS administration in any investigation against conduct that is illegal
Other duties as assigned
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Attend staff meetings, all-agency and other meetings as assigned
QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor's degree in education, social work or a related field and experience in the areas of education, social work, or a related field preferred.
Interest in advocacy and community engagement.
Forty (40) hours of ICASA approved sexual assault training
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
Good computer skills
Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons served
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials
Ability to work flexible hours
* Valid Illinois driver's license and proof of automobile insurance coverage
