JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities of this part-time position consist of acting as a liaison to the Spanish-speaking community, supporting a long-standing partnership with the Westbury School District, supporting STEM and Education Programs, working with newcomer families, and translating written materials.

A successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the Museum's mission and programs. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a team setting and collaborate across the organization's departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support programs/initiatives working with Spanish-speaking families Act as a liaison with the community and families Serve as an on-site, Spanish translator Assist in community recruitment efforts for Museum Programs Work alongside staff to deepen relationships between Spanish-speaking community and the Museum Lead LICM Field Trips, providing Spanish Language support when appropriate. Support family events (Family Nights, Community Nights) Translate written materials, as needed Assist on program related activities/projects as needed Support the STEM Program Initiatives Director in the coordination/implementation of STEM and Education programming at community events (at LICM and off-site)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelors Degree required. Preference for studies in Education and/or Science Field.

Experience:

Experience working with immigrant communities

2-3 years' experience working in a museum or other education setting

Required Skills:

Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Strong Coordination Skills

Able to work independently while still being a team player

Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

Must possess the ability to interact with coworkers and the general public.

Working Hours:

PartTime 21 hours per week (some evening and weekend work required) In-person, on-site

Salary:

$25 to $28 an hour
