Position Overview: MUST HAVE OPEN AVAILABILITY

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join our coffee shop team. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee-based beverages to our customers. This position requires a passion for coffee, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about different coffee beans, brewing techniques, and latte art, and can provide an exceptional coffee experience to every customer.

Responsibilities:

1. Food and Beverage Preparation:

- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, drip coffee, and specialty drinks.

- Ensure consistent quality and taste by following precise brewing and extraction methods.

- Froth milk and create latte art designs to enhance the presentation of beverages.

- Customize orders based on customer preferences, including adjusting sweetness, strength, or milk choices.

- Use speed oven to prep and serve baked good and sandwiches

- Assist in preparing food to be ready to serve to customers

2. Customer Service:

- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, providing prompt and efficient service.

- Assist customers in choosing their beverages, answering questions, and making recommendations based on their preferences.

- Ensure a positive customer experience by delivering personalized service and attentiveness to customer needs.

- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests, resolving issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

- Maintain a clean and organized service area, including the coffee bar, equipment, and seating area.

3. Product Knowledge:

- Stay up to date with current coffee trends, brewing techniques, and flavor profiles.

- Have a deep understanding of different coffee beans, their origins, and roasting profiles.

- Educate customers about the characteristics and flavor notes of different coffees and teas.

4. Cash Handling and Point of Sale (POS):

- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently using the POS system.

- Handle cash transactions, including receiving payments, providing change, and issuing receipts.

- Ensure cash register accuracy and balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.

- Upsell additional products or merchandise, such as pastries, snacks, or sandwiches.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance:

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the coffee preparation and service areas.

- Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment according to established procedures.

- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, syrups, milk, and other supplies, and restock as needed.

- Follow food safety regulations and guidelines when handling and storing food items.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred.

- Passion for coffee and a good understanding of coffee beans, brewing methods, and latte art.

- Excellent customer service skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.

- Knowledge of cash handling procedures and experience with POS systems.

- Ability to work in a team and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
