Responsible for the day-to-day management, operation and accountability for assigned IOP department. Makes decisions, within guidelines, that could seriously affect the division, department and/or GHS System's financial and performance objectives and strategic results. Provides input to the director/manager on budget for area. Direct reports include supervisors, and staff employees including responsibility for performance reviews, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. Performs job for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
1. Participates in the development of departmental goals and objectives.
Ensures that departmental priorities are carried out on a daily basis.
Ensures that the goals and objectives of the department are administered daily and are consistent with management expectations.
Ensures that departmental measures for processes and expectations are carried out on a daily basis.
Assists with recommending alternative methods of providing services to reduce departmental operating costs.
Supervises the staff of the department in regard to fluctuations in the workload.
2. Demonstrates effectiveness in supervising assigned staff.
Supervises departmental staff and processes and recommends changes as needed on a daily basis.
Supervises operation of the department daily.
Provides leadership to maximize the effectiveness of the work performed daily.
Works with management and staff on data concerning the department and their activities.
3. Coordinates the daily activities of the assigned work area.
Ensures that policies and procedures are followed.
Coordinates the daily productivity of the department.
Maintains an effective working relationship with administration and other departments.
Monitors the performance improvement program for the department.
Coordinates programs that are developed to improve departmental communications.
Prepares work schedule, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
4. Demonstrates effectiveness in monitoring the daily activities of the department.
Ensures that standards of performance are administered daily.
Communicates policy interpretation to staff.
Communicates effectively and expresses information clearly to staff.
Maintains required records, reports and statistics as required.
Analyzes operational data and adjusts as necessary to provide adequate, economical service.
Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with management and other departments.
Encourages staff participation and communication in decision-making.
Ensures that all equipment is maintained in a safe and productive operating condition and that all service/maintenance records are properly maintained.
5. Provides technical and supervisory skills for assisting in the operating functions of IOP.
Investigates and identifies the cause of a problem before taking corrective action.
Serves as a resource by sharing knowledge on technical issues.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the principles and theories of advanced technical procedures.
Effectively addresses concerns regarding IOP services, both administrative and clinical, and in working with supervisory staff to resolve the concerns.
Promotes continuous quality improvement within department through staff education, monitoring and ongoing improvement projects.
6. Provides assessment and subsequent interventions to patients and their families.
Develops accurate comprehensive psychosocial assessments and examines current problems and relevant bio-psychosocial and environmental factors, within the mandated time frames.
Communicate aspects of the assessment to members of the health care team, patients and significant others, ensuring that information is always current.
Demonstrates an ability to assess suspected or actual abuse and neglect cases and follows current state and hospital policies on reporting such cases.
Identifies potential suicidal and/or homicidal risks with patients; utilizes established methods and interventions as appropriate to address and follows reporting regulations.
Arranges and facilitates group therapies, individual therapy and family sessions as ordered by the psychiatrist.
Monitors and assesses ongoing issues referring to patients and their families. Communicates and documents same and updates treatment planning as needed.
Effectively participates as an interdisciplinary team member in developing the plan of care as appropriate.
Communicates verbally with tact and sensitivity toward the patients and their families.
Encourages patients to participate in decision making and assists in patient/family education as needed, to aid in communication and input in the treatment plan.
Monitors appropriateness of length of stay and documents accurately the medical necessity for continued stay.
Works with other team members to improve patient outcomes.

Experience
Required: Must be able to exercise considerable judgment in the application, evaluation and implementation of new or revised procedures, techniques or practices to work problems.
Preferred: Sufficient experience in all areas of IOP
Education
Required: Master's degree in counseling, psychology or social Work
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
Current LPC, LCSW, LMSW or PLPC licensure
Current CPR certification
